Ange Postecoglou has all but confirmed that Ivan Perisic will leave Tottenham at the end of the season, saying: ‘He’s unlikely to play for us again.’

Perisic’s contract expires this summer and he’s not expected to be back on the pitch until then as he recovers from an ACL injury sustained in September.

The versatile veteran was touted to play a big part in Spurs’ season, as his wealth of experience and winning mentality would have helped Postecoglou’s rebuild.

Sadly, he only played six times this campaign, and based on what his manager has said, his appearance in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United will be his last for the club.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s FA Cup clash against Burnley, Postecoglou was asked if Perisic would play again this season, replying: ‘No, he’s working hard to be fair to Ivan.

‘He’s obviously got some national team commitments he wants to get back to as soon as possible.

‘Again, he’s been a significant loss for us. I thought this year he was going to be a really significant contributor because of his experience and we saw that in the first few games because of the way he impacted games.

‘But yeah, he won’t… he’s unlikely to play for us again.’

As Postecoglou alludes to, Perisic is aiming to be fit in time to play for Croatia at Euro 2024, in what will be the Inter Milan and Bayern Munich hero’s last major international tournament.

But as he turns 35 in February, it was always unlikely that he would have his contract extended at Tottenham.

Perisic moved to north London on a free in the summer of 2022, reuniting with Antonio Conte in the process, and it looks like he will end his Spurs career with one goal and 14 assists in 50 appearances.

Another player whose time with Tottenham appears to be at an end is Eric Dier who has fallen far down the pecking order and is also out of contract this summer.

The England defender may leave before then however, with Bayern Munich reportedly reigniting their interest in the 29-year-old.
