Jamie Carragher slammed Antony and Mason Mount for their immediate reaction on the pitch after Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Erik ten Hag’s side put in a shambolic performance at Selhurst Park as a double from Michael Olise, plus goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell, sealed a deserved win for Palace.

Despite their side’s woeful display, United supporters applauded Ten Hag’s players after the full-time whistle but Carragher was furious with Antony and Mount, who were deep in conversation as they left the pitch.

Antony was seen holding three fingers up to Mount while both players exchanged words but made sure their mouths were covered

‘Just get off the pitch!’ an irate Carragher said whilst watching the clip during Sky Sports’ post-match analysis.

‘I mean talking, whispering behind your hand, you’ve been absolutely awful.

‘He’s probably talking about one of the players, or somebody else, or the set-up, or the manager.

‘Just get off the pitch, shut up and get in, you’ve been beat 4-0.

‘Whispering and talking about other players, honestly, embarrassing.’

Meanwhile, Paul Scholes took Antony’s interaction with Mount as a sign that he is unhappy with Ten Hag’s tactics.

‘He’s got three fingers up there, what that means I don’t know,’ Scholes told Premier League Productions.

‘He’s [Antony] saying something to Mason Mount he’s not happy with, Onana then covers his mouth and says something.

‘What’s that going to do? I didn’t see any of them communicating on the football pitch.

‘That doesn’t look good, I don’t think that’s good for the manager.

‘People are obviously talking and saying things they don’t agree with. When he’s putting those three fingers up he’s obviously saying, ‘we should be having three in midfield’. I don’t know, we can’t lip-read.

‘But there’s obviously a problem there and they obviously disagree with something the manager is doing.’
