The long and winding road that is the Championship League Invitational comes to an end this week, with the Winners’ Group played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

After seven groups it is a brilliant set of players that have come through to the finale, with former world champion Mark Selby, John Higgins, Neil Robertson and Stuart Bingham joined by Kyren Wilson, Chris Wakelin and Joe O’Connor.

Due to the unique nature of the event, Bingham played in just one group previously, winning at the first time of asking. In contrast, Wilson played in six groups, finishing in the top four of five of them before winning group six.

As the prize money is dished out per frame won and for finishing position in each group, the Warrior has already picked up £19,950 over the event so far, with Bingham on £6,100 so far.

There is not just prize money on the line at the Morningside Arena in Leicester this week, but also a place in next season’s Champion of Champions.

Higgins won this event last season which got him into the prestigious invitational event this campaign, where he made the semi-finals.

There is also the chance to gain some much-needed form and confidence ahead of the World Championship next month and both the World Open and Tour Championship before Sheffield.
