Declan Rice was forced off during Arsenal’s Premier League win over Crystal Palace on Saturday with a suspected hamstring injury.

It appeared that Rice was mouthing ‘hammy’ to a teammate as he walked off the pitch having been replaced by Jorginho at the Emirates on 73 minutes.

Arsenal spent £105 to sign England international midfielder Rice from West Ham in the summer and news of his injury comes as a major blow to Mikel Arteta.

Rice had been performing well during Saturday’s clash in north London, providing the assist for Gabriel Magalhaes’ opening goal on 11 minutes.

Arsenal found themselves 2-0 up before the break thanks to an own goal from Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The Gunners continued to dominate in the second half and Leandro Trossard got on the scoresheet just before the hour mark to put his side in firm control.

Arsenal struck twice in added time, with a double from Gabriel Martinelli seeing the north Londoners register a thumping 5-0 victory over Roy Hodgson’s team.

It was a much-needed win for Arsenal who had registered just one victory in their last five top-flight fixtures heading into the game against Palace.

Their dip in form has seen their hopes of landing the Premier League title take a serious hit after many pundits tipped them for glory this term.

Arsenal sit third in the table after 21 matches on 43 points – two points behind leaders Liverpool – but Jurgen Klopp’s team have in a game in hand.
