Fenerbahce make offer for out of contract Man Utd star Anthony Martial | Football

Fenerbahce have reportedly made an offer to sign Anthony Martial with his Manchester United future up in the air.

Martial is out of contract at the end of the season and Erik ten Hag stunned fans recently by claiming that United were in talks with the forward over a new deal.

They have the option to extend his contract by another year, but contrary to Ten Hag’s comments reports suggest that the Red Devils are planning to part ways with the Frenchman after nine years at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old has scored just 12 Premier League goals over the past three-and-a-half seasons, and it seems that United have finally run out of patience with him.

The club’s preference would be to sell him this January and recoup some money rather than let him leave on a free in the summer, though this also depends on if United can sign a replacement centre-forward.

The likes of Timo Werner and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have been linked, though the former now looks set to join rivals Tottenham instead.

Regardless, it does appear that United have a buyer for Martial, with Turkish outlet Takvim, via the Daily Mail, reporting that Fenerbahce are interested in the forward and have submitted an opening offer worth £6.8million.

The Turkish giants are hoping their ‘good relationship’ with United will ensure that a cut-price deal can be reached.

Only last summer, United sold midfielder Fred to the Super Lig side, while goalkeeper Altay Bayindir went the other way.

For now, Martial will be in contention to play against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third-round on Monday night.

In other news, fellow United forward Jadon Sancho is set to (temporarily) end his Old Trafford nightmare, after an agreement was reached for him to return to Borussia Dortmund on loan.
