Graham Potter has turned down an offer to manage Ajax, according to reports.

The 48-year-old has been out of management since he was sacked by Chelsea just over a year ago.

Ajax dismissed Maurice Steijn in October and are looking to appoint a long-term successor for John van’t Schip, the current interim head coach.

Potter has held talks with the Eredivisie club with a view to taking over at the end of the season.

However, The Athletic reports that while Potter was ‘impressed’ with Ajax, he has rejected a move to the Dutch club.

The report claims that Potter felt managing Ajax ‘was not right for him at present’.

Potter’s decision means that the door remains open to a potential move to Manchester United this summer.

Erik ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford was placed under further threaton Monday evening after United were hammered 4-0 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Thomas Tuchel, who is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, has already indicated that he would welcome the chance to manage United.

‘This is a tricky road where you lead me. I’d rather not answer,’ Tuchel said when asked about a possible return to the Premier League.

‘But it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea, I loved it in England, and I loved it in the Premier League for sure. It was a very, very special time in England, and I remember it very well.’
