KSI has blasted rival Jake Paul for agreeing a fight with boxing legend Mike Tyson, insisting ‘no one wanted this’.

In a shock announcement on Thursday, it was revealed Paul and Tyson will collide on 20 July in Arlington, Texas at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium in an event being streamed globally by Netflix.

There is a 30-year age gap between the two men with Tyson, once the youngest heavyweight champion and formerly ‘the baddest man on the planet’ long-retired, having hung up his gloves in 2005.

The 57-year-old returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr in November 2020.

Paul meanwhile has fought three times in the last eight months alone with his most recent win coming against the little-known Ryan Bourland on Saturday.

It is not yet clear whether the 27-year-old’s showdown with Tyson will be fought under professional boxing rules or as an exhibition, as was the case when the former world champion fought Jones Jr four years ago.

In any case, Paul’s long-time rival KSI has taken aim at the American, writing on Twitter: ‘50+ years old. No-one wanted this… So sad to see man…’

KSI has fought six times as a professional boxer, beating Jake’s brother Logan on his debut in 2019. Last October, he suffered an unanimous decision defeat to Tommy Fury.

Paul’s second career victory, a first round knockout of former NBA star Nate Robinson, took place on the Tyson vs Jones Jr card in November 2020 with the former heavyweight champion vowing to ‘finish’ the young star.

“’I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul,’ Tyson said.

‘He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a “kid” can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.

‘It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.’
