Alisson Becker has picked up a fresh muscle injury on the eve of Liverpool’s Premier League clash at Brentford on Saturday.

The goalkeeper will miss the trip to the G-tech Community Stadium as Liverpool sustain yet another devastating injury blow.

While Jurgen Klopp has been able to welcome Mohamed Salah back to his squad, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and Thiago Alcantara are in the treatment room.

Alisson missed the Reds’ last game – a 3-1 win over Burnley – due to illness and missed a couple of fixtures back in December with a muscle injury.

It is said the Brazil No.1 was all fit and set to play on Friday morning only to pick up an injury in the final training session of the day

He will now remain at Anfield over the weekend with Liverpool’s medical team to run further tests on the muscle problem and learn the extent of the issue.

This all comes at a crucial point of the season, with Klopp’s side leading the Premier League title race by two points ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal, though the former have a game in hand.

A crucial game against City is just around the corner on March 10th.

Furthermore, they are also set to play Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final next weekend, though back-up keeper Caoimhin Kelleher was already set to start that having played every game in the competition up to this point.

Earlier on Friday, Klopp had been hailing the return of Alisson from illness, saying in his pre-match press conference: ‘Mo [Salah] is back in full training. That brings him automatically into contention.

‘Ibou [Konate] is not suspended any more, Joey [Gomez] is fit again, Conor [Bradley] is back.

‘Ali [Alisson] is back, so that’s a positive.’
