Thiago Alcantara is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a fresh injury in his return against Arsenal on Sunday.
The Spanish midfielder was making his first appearance of the season when he entered proceedings in the 85th minute in the 3-1 defeat at the Emirates.
A hip problem has prevented Thiago from playing for the Reds this season, much to Jurgen Klopp’s frustration.
The 32-year-old’s recovery has been slow and he’s been treated with care.
But the former Barcelona man suffered a muscle injury during his short time on the pitch on Sunday and is set for another spell out, according to the Times.
It’s a blow to the Reds, at a time when Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah are sidelined with hamstring problems.
Thiago is out of contract at the end of the season and it appears unlikely that the Reds will offer him a new deal.
The midfielder joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in 2020 for a fee of around £15m, but his time at the club has been riddled with injuries.
