Luke Littler one of two players that can beat me, says darts champion Luke Humphries

Luke Humphries believes that Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen are the only two players that can beat him currently after the reigning world champion claimed a third successive Premier League night win.

Making his first appearance in the tournament, Humphries claimed back-to-back wins in Nottingham and Brighton and kept the superb run going on Thursday in Dublin.

The 29-year-old stormed past Peter Wright and Nathan Aspinall before dispatching former world champion Michael Smith in the final with a commanding 107 average.

He now sits seven points clear at the top of the table at the halfway stage and believes few players can match his standards given his current form.

‘I’m not arrogant at all but I feel like if I play my ‘A’ game, there are only a couple of people who can test me in that manner,’ Humphries told Sky Sports after his win.

‘I think Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen are the two that can push me and their ‘A’ level can beat me.”

‘I feel like I’m playing the best darts in the world, especially in the past six or seven months consistently, but there are so many great players and anything can happen every week.’

Van Gerwen, who started the year in brilliant fashion and won three of the first four nights, is now four weeks without a win as he continues to grapple with a nagging shoulder injury.

Littler, meanwhile, lost in his quarter-final against Michael Smith to drop outside the top-four as he still searches for his first night win.

The 17-year-old will have his work cut out for him next week to get back to winnings ways in Belfast as he faces a quarter-final clash against Humphries in a rematch of their World Championship final in January.
