United were pegged back twice at Old Trafford on Sunday, with goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Rashford cancelled out by Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur.
The England forward’s strike just before half-time was very impressive, as was his whole performance against Spurs it should be said.
His celebration, where he appeared to gesture to his critics, suggesting they talk too much, was not well-received however.
Speaking on Sky Sports, legendary United captain Roy Keane said: ‘We need to see more of this [Rashford’s overall performance], because he’s shown it before, he’s got the quality.
‘Why does he seem to be upset with everybody?
‘He simplified his game [today]. He’s obviously been told by his manager, the coaching staff that when we are in possession, in space, you’ve got to run in this game.
‘You’ve got to stretch teams and when Marcus is doing that it’s very hard to stop.’
Former Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp was more scathing of Rashford’s antics, saying: ‘He’s got no right to be upset, he’s not done the business!’
Upon hearing that this was the 26-year-old’s first goal at Old Trafford since May of last year, he added: ‘That’s not good enough! With his talent, what he can do to people – twist them up – that’s what he should be doing.
