Getafe plan to speak to Manchester United about extending Mason Greewnood’s time at the Madrid club.

The Spaniards signed Greenwood on loan last August, following United’s decision for the striker to recommence his career away from Old Trafford.

The striker has scored seven goals and provided five assists during his time in La Liga, with the club currently 10th in the table,

Ratcliffe, in wide-ranging interviews with the media following his 27.7% stake in the club was confirmed, said the club would make a fresh decision on Greenwood’s future this summer.

That opens up the possibility that the forward could play for the club again, some two-and-a-half-years after his last appearance.

But the Times say Getafe are desperate to keep Greenwood and are planning talks with United over extending his deal.

While Getafe are open to a permanent transfer, there is an acceptance that the sort of fees United would be seeking are out of their price range.

The Spaniards therefore hope to extend Greenwood’s deal instead.

The striker’s United deal runs until 2025, though the club have the option of a further year.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have both been linked with a move for Greenwood, who is valued at around £36m by United.
