Metro has been chosen as the headline media partner for this year’s Women’s Football Awards – and are asking for you to nominate an Unsung Hero to be honoured at the biggest awards event in women’s football.

The 2024 Women’s Football Awards in association with Metro will bring together the biggest names from the sport at a ceremony hosted by Lioness legend Eni Aluko and Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher.

Arsenal and England hero, Alessia Russo won the Player of the Year Award at the inaugural event in 2023, and nominations are now open for this year’s awards.

‘It is fantastic that Metro is partnering with the Women’s Football Awards once again to help shine a light on the success of women in the game,’ Aluko said.

‘This event gives a major platform to sport and is the biggest awards event for women’s football in Europe. The 2024 ceremony is set to be the best and most inspiring yet.’

‘Huge credit to Metro for giving this major platform to celebrating the success of women’s football,’ Carragher added.

‘I am delighted to be part of this event again and joining Eni as co-host. It is going to be a fantastic night.’

Among the prizes is the Unsung Hero Award which will recognise those who have consistently gone above and beyond to help the women’s game but often fall under the radar – from grassroots volunteers to those in the professional ranks.

‘We want to honour an Unsung Hero, a person who raises the bar to support a player, a club, an organisation or the game as a whole,’ Aluko added.

‘Women’s football is growing so quickly, and we know so many people, often in their spare time, are doing as much as they can to support, nurture and enhance this growth.

‘The 2024 Women’s Football Awards is excited to honour these amazing people in a room filled with Women’s Super League and international superstars.’

If you know someone who deserves to be honoured in any of the categories, head to www.womensfootballawards.com to nominate them now.

The final shortlist for the awards will be unveiled in February, with the star-studded awards gala to take place in London on May 30th following the conclusion of the Women’s Super League season.
