Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed Victor Osimhen will leave the club at the end of the season, naming three possible destinations for the Nigeria star.
Osimhen played an integral role in Napoli’s Serie A success last season, scoring 26 league goals and 31 in all competitions.
He was heavily linked with a move away in the summer with Chelsea and Manchester United among his suitors but remained in Naples, signing a contract extension in December until 2026.
Earlier this week however, the 25-year-old strongly suggested he will leave Napoli at the end of the current season.
Reacting to Osimhen’s comments, Napoli owner de Laurentiis said the club are aware of the striker’s plans to move on, naming Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or an ‘English team’ as his next club.
‘We knew that since last summer,’ De Laurentiis told reporters.
‘That’s why the contract negotiations were so drawn out and amicable… but we knew perfectly well that he would go Real Madrid, to PSG or to a English team.’
Chelsea are thought to now be leading the race to sign Osimhen with the striker revealing he has already decided his next move.
‘The rumour is going around about me linked with the Premier League,’ Osimhen told CBS Sports.
‘Of course, when you’re one of the hottest strikers in the world you expect this type of thing, the EPL it’s one of the biggest and best leagues in the world.
‘For me, I’m with Napoli, signed a new contract and enjoying my time there with the team, at the end of the season I’ve already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do in my career.
‘Since I’ve started, I’ve been the one making my own decisions on everything and it’s working out well for me, even though when I started it didn’t go so well.
‘I already have my plan, I already know the next step I want to take, so for now I just want to finish the season strong.’
