Anthony Taylor has been appointed the referee for Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League, level on points with Liverpool but with a superior goal difference.

City, meanwhile, sit a point behind their two title rivals as Pep Guardiola’s side host the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Premier League have confirmed that Taylor will take charge of the game with Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn his two assitants.

Jarred Gillett has been appointed as the lead VAR for the match, with Darren Cann his assistant.

Guardiola has already had one run-in with Taylor this season after he called the official the ‘master of commander’ after City’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham in December.

Guardiola also criticised Taylor for his performance after Rodri was sent off in City’s 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest in September.

‘The referee changed the game,’ Guardiola said.

‘I don’t understand why the first action wasn’t a yellow card and the first action is a yellow card to us, I don’t understand.

‘With all the yellow cards the responsibility is not Nottingham Forest or Man City’s, that’s for sure.’

Meanwhile Arteta was furious with Gillett after Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in December.

After his side’s loss at Villa Park, Arteta accused Gillett of missing two ‘clear and obvious’ decisions which meant Arsenal missed out on a chance to equalise.
