Rio Ferdinand feels there is one Manchester United player who has ‘Clarence Seedorf vibes’ following Thursday’s 4-3 victory at Wolves.
The Red Devils walked away with all three points at Molineux thanks to Kobbie Mainoo’s winning goal in the 97th minute.
The 18-year-old has massively impressed this term having broken into the first team under Erik ten Hag.
Ferdinand has now compared Mainoo to former AC Milan and Real Madrid star Seedorf, who is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time.
‘He gives me vibes of Clarence Seedorf,’ Ferdinand told TNT Sports about Mainoo after the match.
‘The way he can manoeuvre in tight situations and manipulate the ball. He uses his body at times but can just shift it and pop it through his opponents’ legs.
‘He’s elusive at times as well. The control and the awareness to be able to pick his spot… some players see headlights there and back pages but he just thinks, ‘Well I’m going to go for it’ – and he just caresses it.’
Ten Hag hailed Mainoo after United’s victory and admitted his player is making ‘incredible progress’ this term.
Mainoo, quizzed how he was feeling after his heroics at Molineux, said: ‘It’s a dream come true. It’s such a tough place to come, they’ve had a good home run here. We had to get the win.
‘I’ve still not come down from it, I still feel like I’m dreaming to be honest.’
