Brentford boss Thomas Frank admits he is happy to be linked with the Liverpool job, but says he is also very content with life with the Bees.

The 50-year-old is not exactly a leading candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp when the German leaves at the end of the season, but he has been talked about as a contender for the job.

The Dane has been in charge of Brentford since 2018 and done an excellent job, bringing them up from the Championship and establishing them as a Premier League force on a limited budget.

He has been touted for bigger jobs in the past and was happy to respond when asked about links with a move to Anfield.

He admits that such talk is a compliment and he has no problem with it, but also stated that he is in no rush to leave Brentford.

‘There’s a lot of rumours out there. I think we all have kind of an ego and the ego likes that little bit of sugar but at the end of the day, I’m at Brentford. I’m very happy here,’ Frank told Sky Sports.

‘Do I have ambitions? Yes. Am I going to stay at Brentford forever? Maybe but probably not. So who knows what’s going to happen in the future? What I know is that I’m here at Brentford and I’m very happy with it.’

Frank’s job at Brentford will not be made any easier by the likely exit of Ivan Toney this summer, with the boss admitting that his star striker probably does not have much time left with the Bees.

‘It is relatively obvious that Ivan Toney will probably be sold this summer,’ said Frank, via Tipsbladet.

‘It can be ‘expensive’ to sell your best player, but conversely I also know that this summer he only has one year left on his contract with us.

‘We also know what he is worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.’

Toney has scored three goals in four Premier League games since returning from his betting ban last month.
