Wayne Rooney has revealed which one of his former Manchester United teammates was a ‘nightmare’ in the dressing room.

Rooney played with lots of different players during his 13-year stint at the club between 2004 and 2017 including Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba.

But there is one particular star who kept falling out with his own teammates behind the scenes at Old Trafford, according to Rooney.

‘(Nemanja) Vidic was a nightmare,’ Rooney told The Overlap. ‘He’d have an argument with someone.

‘I remember he didn’t speak to Giggsy (Ryan Giggs) for six months, didn’t speak to Patrice (Evra) for months, he’d have an argument and just wouldn’t speak to them.

‘I had an argument with him once and I remember that he was going down the same route with me.

‘So I pulled him for a chat and said, ‘Grow up, what’s up with you? We’re teammates’.’

Nemanja Vidic spent eight years at United from 2006 to 2014, winning five Premier League titles during his time at the club.

The Serbian centre-back also helped United clinch the Champions League trophy as well as three League Cups.

He is one of only four players to win the Premier League Player of the Season award twice.

Meanwhile, Rooney has accused some of United’s current injured players of deliberately ducking out of games to protect themselves for the FA Cup final or the upcoming European Championships.

‘Some of those players can play,’ Rooney said after United lost 1-0 to Arsenal last time out. ‘A hundred per cent. You’ve got a European Championship coming up, an FA Cup final coming up.

‘Because they are getting a little bit of stick now, it is easy for players to stay out of it a little bit and then come back towards the final and get themselves fit for the European Championships.’
