The striker joined Getafe on a season-long loan deal in August after it was decided that his future was best served away from Old Trafford.

United had initially planned to reintegrate Greenwood into their first team squad after charges of attempted rape and domestic assault were dropped against him.

However, the club u-turned following a public backlash which saw Greenwood join Getafe.

But United face another decision on Greenwood’s future in July, with the striker set to return to the club.

Ratcliffe will have his 28.9% stake in the club ratified by the Premier League by then and that club could alter the course set out by former CEO Richard Arnold, who made the decision on Greenwood’s future.

But, a decision on whether Greenwood could play for the club again is not the only decision Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have to make.

The striker has attracted interest from across Europe after his brilliant displays for Getafe this term.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are all said to be interested in Greenwood and there could be an even higher level of competition if United confirm they will sell the forward.

That’s why resolving the striker’s future is considered a ‘top priority’ according to the Sun, as United could also sell a valuable asset to raise funds ahead of a significant transfer window.
